 Resume: Chance Glenn obtained his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, also in Electrical Engineering, from the Johns Hopkins University. He was on the staff of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory for a number of years, and held several positions in industry, in addition to founding a company of his own. He joined RIT in 2003 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology. Currently, he is Director of the William G. McGowan Center for Telecommunications Innovation and Collaborative Research leading projects in digital signal processing, communications and radio frequency, and digital multimedia.


3. Dr. Omar Zia

Resume: Dr. Omar Zia has been involved in teaching and applied research in the application of Control theory at the University level for the last 25 years. He has served as a professor at Oregon Institute of Technology ( 1984-1988), California Polytechnic State University ( 1988-1993) and Southern Polytechnic State University ( 1993- present). He has taught, as an exchange professor, at Hartz Applied University in Germany ( Fall of 2000), and at Warsaw University of Technology in Poland ( Summer of 2007). As a Fulbright Scholar, he has taught at the Technical University of Tajikistan in Dushanbe ( Fall of 2010) He has a Ph.D. in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering and has continuously pursued research and publication, participating in the applied research projects of NASA. He has received formal recognition from NASA eight times for his research contributions to the research projects of NASA. His most prominent research accomplishments are:
a) Application of Intelligent Control techniques in the design of an Autopilot for a highly maneuverable aircraft Systems at Dryden Research Center of NASA
b) Application of Intelligent Control system for detection of illicit crops, at Stennis Space Center of NASA.
c) Applicaion of control theort in the design of “Ultra-Narrow Line width Laser Oscillator in-Space Experiment”
As a senior member of IEEE and a member of ASEE ( American Society for Engineering Education), Dr. Zia has been active in the service to the profession and Engineering Education. Currently he serves as the chair of the program committee of two international conferences. Most recently he served as keynote speaker and program chair of the “World Non-Gird- Connected Wind Power and Energy” conference in Nanjing, China (October 2009). He has served as session moderator of conferences sponsored by IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control), IEEE and ASEE. Dr. Zia, prior to joining academia, worked as engineer in the industry for three years , currently he is registered as professional engineer (PE ) in the states of Oregon, California and Georgia.


4. Changyuan Yu

Resume: Dr. Changyuan Yu joined Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Univ. of Singapore (NUS) in 12/2005. He has founded and led the Photonic System Research Group in NUS since then. He has supervised 5 postdoc research fellows and 15 PhD students (7 graduated) in his group. He is also a joint senior scientist with A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), and an investigator of National University of Singapore Suzhou Research Institute (NUSRI). He received B.S. in Applied Physics and B. Economics in Management from Tsinghua Univ., China in 1997, M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Univ. of Miami, USA in 1999, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Southern California, USA in 2005. His research focuses on photonic devices, subsystems, and optical fiber communication and sensor systems. Dr. Yu has authored/co-authored 1 US patent, 6 book chapters and over 240 research papers on the peer reviewed journals and the prestigious conferences (39 invited, including OFC2012 in USA). He has served in technical program committee or organizing committee for 50+ international conferences (including OFC2014-2016). His group won 6 best paper awards in conferences, and also the championship in biomedical area in the 3rd China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (out of 10,000+ competitors) in 2014.
